As we were searching, we found that Beuchert's not only fit the bill in terms of atmosphere, they literally KILLED IT on their menu. Upon browsing their website, I noticed that they use rice sourced from Anson Mills (my favorite farm) and other fresh ingredients straight from their family farm in Maryland. Everything we read about this place was full of encouragement, including the little notes about farms from which ingredients are sourced. The restaurant feels much like a speakeasy had a baby with your southern grandmother's cabin in the woods, and I knew from our first visit that this would be a place that felt like home. That day's brunch experience was one of my favorite in DC, but I'm here to tell you about our recent dinner- which was so good it made their brunch service feel almost impossibly inferior.
My love for southern food runs deep. Growing up in the South, things like pimento cheese, deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes were staples in my diet. To come to Beuchert's and be able to eat all of those things at once was a god damn dream come true.
What We Ate:
A+ for you, Beuchert's!
